It seems that every pregnant woman I've talked to lately is getting induced, has been induced, or wants to be induced.
Your body has grown this baby from two single cells into a miraculous human being. Just as it didn't need instructions or prompting to do this, it does not need to be told when to go into labor. Your baby will come out when the time is right- not when a doctor says it should, not when the calendar says it should.
It is SO HARD in those last weeks of pregnancy to not be anxious. I went two weeks over my "due" date.......my daughter knew exactly how much time she needed to cook to perfection. Had she been born on her "due" date, she wouldn't have been ready. At two weeks over"due", she was a whopping 6 pounds 15 ounces.
I was ready. I wanted to meet this baby who had grown inside me for ten months. As my "due" date came and went, I worried unnecessarily that something was wrong. Something *was* wrong- my expectations!
Trust. Trust your body. Trust yourself. If your intuition (or "mama gut") tells you there's something wrong, then by all means do not ignore it. But trust that just as you grew your baby, you will go into labor and birth your baby without exactly knowing how. Give in to the miracle that is pregnancy and labor and delivery and just let it happen when it is meant to happen.
